
During World IP Day 2026, India’s minister Piyush Goyal announced that for the next three years, there will be no fees for registering intellectual property related to sports. This includes patents, trademarks, designs, etc. The goal is to encourage more people and companies to protect their ideas and innovations in the sports sector. By removing the cost, the government hopes to increase creativity, support new businesses, and help the sports industry grow in India.
