
Detecting and correcting bugs during the design and production of microchips continues to be a major challenge for the semiconductor industry, given the complexity of modern chip architectures and the advanced technologies they rely on. Today’s microchips often integrate billions of transistors and feature sophisticated designs tailored to evolving user demands, creating an extremely complex environment where logical errors may occur. Many of these errors are particularly difficult to identify, as they surface only under very specific conditions.
The European IP Helpdesk team has published a new case study featuring LUBIS EDA, a university spin-off dedicated to tackling these challenges by accelerating microchip development, improving reliability, and reducing design flaws through the use of formal verification methods. Since its inception, the LUBIS EDA team has successfully navigated critical administrative, legal, and IP challenges while establishing a thriving start-up. With its innovative debugging solution already in place, the company is now actively reassessing its intellectual property (IP) strategy and management to further strengthen its offering and market value.
The team is convinced that a well-structured IP portfolio will not only reinforce LUBIS EDA’s market position but also attract new investment opportunities, support entry into key markets in the EU, US, and Asia, and lay the groundwork for a successful exit strategy.
