The European Commission has recently launched two Policy Support Facility (PSF) Country Initiatives to support Ukraine and Czechia. These initiatives aim to provide external advice and operational recommendations for reforming Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs) and developing governance policies for public research infrastructures.
The PFS to reform Czech TTOs sector was launched in June with the aim of analysing TTO needs, identifying existing gaps and underperformance, suggesting tools for policymakers to optimise TTO functions and performance, defining institutional roles within the technology transfer landscape, enhancing cooperation between TTOs and regional innovation centres, and potentially establishing a central technology transfer authority.
The aim of the PFS to Ukraine, launched in June, is to provide expert guidance and operational recommendations to the country's authorities on governance, funding, and international integration of research infrastructures. Additionally, the initiative seeks to introduce Open Science practices within these infrastructures to enhance overall research and innovation production and quality.
Both PFS initiatives, aimed at boosting innovation and improving performance in Czechia and Ukraine, will have their dissemination activities in early 2025.
