The company owns the figurative trademark MagicIAn, registered in Europe, USA and Korea. Recently MagicIAn has been exploring international expansion into Argentina and Uruguay, driven by clients’ interest in these markets. As a result, it is now focusing on Latin America as its next target market.

Gauntlet, a Greek SME with over 15 years of experience in Central America, specializes in hygiene products like disposable gloves for the healthcare industry, with a solid presence in countries such as Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Paraguay, expanded into Brazil in 2016, initially focusing on their healthcare products under the trade mark Gauntlet. After an acquisition in 2018, Gauntlet became the owner of another brand “Superlime,” known for high-quality microfiber products. Recently, the company embarked on a rebranding initiative and decided to expand Superlime’s reach into Latin American markets.

A Czech Republic-based SME, is a digital assessment platform aimed at improving the assessment process in schools. After registering their trade mark in Czechia, the company set its sights on international expansion, focusing on Latin America. They were particularly interested in securing trade mark protection in Brazil and Mexico but were unsure if it would be possible due to a competitor from the Dominican Republic with a similar domain name and potentially an identical trademark registration.

ITalent
An AI-powered company, specializes in helping businesses find qualified talent faster. Based in Slovenia, with operations in Chile, ITalent approached the Latin America IP SME Helpdesk after realizing that their existing word trade mark might be deemed generic. This concern arose from challenges in securing trade mark registration for the name “ITalent” as a word mark. Although their figurative logo was successfully registered, they sought further guidance on securing trade mark protection for their operations on both local and international level.

Sweet Child is a Belgian SME that creates custom-designed baby bottles shaped to replicate the mother’s breast, aiming to support breastfeeding and reduce nipple confusion in infants. The company prides itself on a product developed by mothers and midwives to meet the specific needs of breastfeeding mothers. Eager to protect their brand internationally, Sweet Child independently filed trade mark registrations in multiple countries, including Brazil, through the Madrid System. However, lacking local IP expertise, they faced procedural challenges.
