
Representatives from associations for the blind in 19 Latin American countries convened to discuss strategies for advancing the Marrakesh Treaty, which facilitates the creation and international distribution of accessible books for individuals who are blind or print-disabled.
The World Intellectual Property Organization's Accessible Books Consortium (ABC) aims to enhance global access to these resources at no cost.
Professor Martin Moscoso noted that while many Latin American countries ratified the Treaty early on, effective implementation remains lacking. He advocated for renewed strategies at the national level and the formation of cross-sectoral groups to monitor progress and implementation of the treaty.
