Delhi High Court has granted interim relief to Volvo, halting two Indian bus manufacturers and operators from using its trademark and distinctive grille design on knock-off buses. Justice Amit Bansal noted the defendants deliberately fabricated "fake/replica/lookalike/counterfeit" Volvo buses to mislead customers. The court highlighted the defendants' intent to leverage Volvo’s reputation, describing their actions as a "mala fide attempt to encash on the plaintiffs' immense reputation" . The injunction bars use of the Volvo mark until the next hearing, scheduled for October 9.
