The Intangible Asset Valuation Network (IAVN) has been formally launched at Singapore IP Week 2026, bringing together leading international organisations from the intellectual property, valuation and commercialisation communities. The new network aims to strengthen global capabilities and promote greater consistency in the valuation of intangible assets.

The IAVN’s Founding Members include the International Trademark Association (INTA), International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC), Licensing Executives Society International (LESI), World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) and the Institute of Valuers and Appraisers, Singapore (IVAS).

As intangible assets such as patents, brands and data represent an increasingly significant share of business value, credible and reliable valuation is becoming essential for investment, financing, commercialisation and policy decisions. Yet approaches to valuing these assets can differ considerably across markets and professional communities.

The IAVN seeks to address this challenge by creating a dedicated global platform for knowledge exchange, capacity building and the development of practical tools and resources. It will also encourage greater international alignment around good valuation practices while recognising differences in legal, regulatory and commercial environments.

Through closer cooperation between IP, valuation and commercialisation experts, the network aims to strengthen confidence in intangible asset valuation and contribute to more effective IP financing and commercialisation ecosystems worldwide.
