INPI publishes manual on patent expiration

The INPI (Brazilian Institute of Industrial Property) has made a new Patent Expiration User Manual available on its website. Created by the Directorate of Patents, Computer Programs, and Topographies of Integrated Circuits, this manual aims to ensure greater transparency and public awareness on this topic.

In this context, the Manual introduces the patent expiry instrument, highlighting its legal foundations and current application. Furthermore, it presents an evolution of the concept since the 19th century and describes the administrative processing of the issue at the INPI.
