India now ranks among top six nations globally in 6G patent filings: Minister of State, Telecom - IBEF

India has made a rapid ascent in the global telecommunications race, now ranking among the top six nations in 6G patent filings as of 2025. This surge is driven by the Bharat 6G Vision, a government-led initiative that aims to secure at least 10% of global 6G patents by 2030. To fuel this innovation, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has funded over 111 research projects with an investment exceeding ₹300 crore, focusing on critical areas like Terahertz communication, AI-native networks, and indigenous chipset ecosystems.
