Increasing Europe’s Quantum Advantage: Key Recommendations of the European Quantum Industry Consortium

quantum

The European Quantum Industry Consortium (QuIC) is pleased to present its newest Position Paper on the EU Quantum Strategy, offering a forward-looking roadmap for advancing quantum technologies across Europe. In light of increasing global competition, the paper emphasizes the urgent need for Europe to take bold and coordinated measures to safeguard its leadership in quantum computing, communication, and sensing. It highlights key actions required to strengthen Europe’s quantum ecosystem, driving innovation, attracting investment, and stimulating sustainable economic growth.

A major challenge identified in the Position Paper is the urgent need to cultivate a skilled quantum workforce. To remain competitive in this fast-moving field, Europe must ensure that education, talent development, and research efforts are closely aligned with industry demands. Furthermore, the effective management of intellectual property (IP) and a strong focus on commercialisation are essential for turning scientific advances into real-world innovations. The paper also underscores the significance of establishing robust quantum standards and benchmarks, which are key to reinforcing Europe’s leadership in shaping global quantum policies and technological frameworks.
