On January 20, 2026, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen delivered a major address at the World Economic Forum in Davos, signaling that the European Union and India are on the brink of a landmark Free Trade Agreement (FTA). 

She described the potential pact as the "mother of all deals," highlighting its capacity to create a unified market of 2 billion people and account for nearly 25% of global GDP.
