The European Commission has launched a public call inviting research and innovation (R&I) stakeholders to join a new Community of Practice dedicated to developing a European competence framework for knowledge valorisation intermediaries. The initiative forms part of the European Research Area (ERA) Policy Agenda 2025–2027 and aims to strengthen the capacities of professionals who facilitate the translation of research into innovation, business, and public policy.

The Community of Practice will bring together knowledge transfer professionals, innovation intermediaries, IP experts, incubators, science parks, investors, public authorities, researchers, and other R&I actors to exchange experiences, share best practices, and contribute to the design of a flexible EU-wide competence framework. The work will take place through four to five online meetings between September and November 2026.

The initiative recognises the increasingly important role of knowledge valorisation intermediaries in connecting academia, industry, policymakers, and society. The recommendations developed through the Community of Practice will contribute to future European Commission policy guidance and support the strengthening of innovation ecosystems across Europe.
