European IP Helpdesk Participates in the Science for Industry Forum 2026

The European IP Helpdesk took part in the Science for Industry Forum (S4i), held on 28–29 January in Madrid. Now in its fourth edition, the Forum brings together researchers, industry representatives, and policymakers to explore how public–private partnerships can accelerate technology transfer and innovation through Deep Science.

This year’s discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between the public and private sectors to turn cutting-edge scientific research into real-world applications. The European IP Helpdesk contributed to a roundtable dedicated to Public–Private Partnership models: funders’ and beneficiaries’ perspectives, highlighting the critical role of intellectual property (IP) in collaborative research and innovation (R&I).

During the session, the European IP Helpdesk explained why effective IP management is essential for successful collaboration, how its services support researchers and organisations involved in joint R&I activities, and how strategic intellectual asset management can act as a key enabler for innovation. Looking ahead, the discussion emphasised that well-designed IP strategies can significantly accelerate the translation of excellent scientific research into impactful innovations and tangible societal benefits.
