The European Commission has released a new guide to Geographical Indications (GIs), offering detailed explanations of the application process and practical insights for producers. Designed to be accessible, engaging, and user-friendly, the guide features a series of videos from GI holders across Europe, who share their experiences and explain how GI recognition has benefited their products and communities.

With this new tool, the Commission provides clear and practical guidance to EU producers and producer groups on how to register the names of their agri-food products under the EU’s quality schemes. The initiative aims to support more successful applications, helping producers strengthen the protection of authentic regional products, enhance market value, and preserve Europe’s rich agricultural and cultural heritage.
