Following the first European Standardisation Panel Survey, which helped identify industry needs and highlight the importance of standardisation for innovation and competitiveness, the European Commission has launched a second edition to collect updated input from stakeholders across Europe.
Standards remain a vital tool for helping researchers and innovators move new technologies closer to the market. They support knowledge valorisation and technological development, while also ensuring that new solutions are safe and reliable—making up-to-date insights into standardisation needs particularly important.
The new survey seeks contributions from a wide range of stakeholders, including large companies, SMEs, start-ups, experts, patent applicants, and research and innovation actors engaged in standardisation activities. By gathering perspectives across sectors and technology fields, the initiative aims to build a balanced and representative picture of current and emerging needs in Europe.
Findings will support the implementation of the EU Standardisation Strategy and complement existing work, including the Code of Practice on Standardisation in the European Research Area. The results are expected to inform strategic recommendations for policymakers, industry representatives, and standardisation bodies.
Survey will be open until 31 January 2026, with results expected to be published later in 2026.
