EPO's CodeFest 2024 Challenge: Transform Patent Data with AI

European Patent Office (EPO) is organising the second edition of CodeFest to explore the transformative potential of generative artificial intelligence in deriving new insights from patent data.

Utilising artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance innovation and support strategic decision-making provides numerous significant advantages. This area of focus is crucial at the EPO, as it enhances the utility of patent data and maximises user impact by accelerating the advancement of new technologies.

EPO is calling on coders or developers aged 18 and over to submit their proposals for solutions by 8 August 2024. Submissions can come from an individual person or a team of up to five people. Anyone residing in one of the EPO's member states is eligible to contribute. 

The winners of Code Fest 2024 will be eligible to win one of the following prizes:

• Grand prize winner: EUR 20 000
• 1st runner-up: EUR 10 000
• 2nd runner-up: EUR 5 000

Each prize will be accompanied by a trophy.
