EPO Codefest 2026: Help Shape the Future of Innovation and IP Portfolio

CodeFest is an exciting multi-week series of coding competitions that invites developers to address real-world challenges using the power of patent data. The initiative offers a unique opportunity for coders and innovators to apply their skills to meaningful problems while gaining access to the European Patent Office’s (EPO) data products and services and competing for a cash prize.

Following the success of the previous three CodeFest editions on Green Plastics, Generative AI, and Classifying Patent Data for Sustainable Development, the EPO has announced that registrations are now open for the fourth edition of EPO CodeFest which will focus on patent and IP portfolio (e)valuation. 

Making IP evaluation easier and more scalable can empower start-ups and innovators to access funding, bring new ideas to market, and make more informed business decisions. By leveraging patent data, the economic value of intellectual property can be unlocked driving growth, competitiveness, and investment. These priorities are also high on the European policy agenda, as reflected in the EU Startup and Scale-up Strategy. 

Proposals can be submitted by 16 November 2025.
