The conference “From Knowledge to Impact: Shaping Europe’s Next Innovation Wave”, organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD), took place on 13 November and provided an excellent opportunity to raise awareness about the European IP Helpdesk and engage in meaningful discussions with key research and innovation stakeholders.
The event gave new momentum to the rollout of two major EU strategies, the EU Startup and Scale-up Strategy and the European Research and Technology Infrastructures Strategy, both central to strengthening Europe’s innovation ecosystem.
During the conference, experts and practitioners exchanged views on how to foster impactful co-creation between industry and academia through more effective intellectual asset management. Participants emphasised that clear deal terms and transparent revenue-sharing agreements are essential to bridge the gap between research and market, supported by skilled technology transfer professionals and incentives for inventors to launch spin-offs.
The European IP Helpdesk was represented at the event, introducing its range of services on intellectual asset management, protection strategies, and capacity-building activities through trainings and practical resources. These tools are designed to help European small and medium enterprises (SMEs) researchers and innovators strengthen their exploitation pathways and make the most of their intellectual assets.
