On 7 July 2026, El Salvador deposited its instrument of accession to the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement. This makes the country the 77th Contracting Party to the Geneva Act and the 83rd member of the Hague Union, thereby extending the coverage of WIPO’s international design system to 100 countries. The Geneva Act will enter into force in El Salvador on 7 October 2026.

From this date onwards, eligible foreign companies will be able to seek protection for their industrial designs in El Salvador via a single international application under the Hague System. Likewise, Salvadoran designers and companies will be able to use the system to protect their designs in other participating countries.
