EIT and EUIPO Renew Commitment to Strengthen IP Support for Innovators

Since formalising their collaboration in 2020, the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) have continued to play complementary roles in supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and entrepreneurs. As part of its 2030 Strategic Plan, the EUIPO is advancing a range of initiatives designed to deepen and strengthen this cooperation. The signature of a Memorandum of Understanding and a joint work plan for 2025 on 2 April 2025 marks a concrete step forward in realising this shared ambition.

In 2024 the collaboration between EIT and EUIPO resulted in 41 joint activities, engaging 6,850 direct participants and raising awareness about intellectual property (IP) and innovation.

Building on this success, the EIT and EUIPO are set to continue their partnership in 2025, focusing on organizing training sessions for SMEs, start-ups, women entrepreneurs, and the EIT youth education community. One key initiative is the IP Masterclass planned for April 2025, which will provide EIT Girls Go Circular students and teachers with valuable insights on protecting innovation and creativity in the digital age, with a specific focus on gaming, music, and fashion. Another important milestone is the Ideas Powered for Business network event, scheduled for April 28-29, 2025, in Alicante.

While this list highlights some of the key activities planned, it is not exhaustive, as the EIT and EUIPO will continue to assess and integrate new proposals for initiatives throughout the year.
