The Delhi High Court has granted interim relief to Google by restraining an Indian electric vehicle company from using the “Waymo” trademark, associated with its self-driving car operations.

The case proceeded ex parte after the defendants failed to appear in court despite being duly served through multiple channels, including speed post, courier, and email. Justice Jyoti Singh noted their absence even after the matter was called a second time and, in light of this, issued an interim injunction in favour of Google.

The order prevents the company from continuing to use the “Waymo” name, reinforcing the protection of established trademarks against potential infringement.
