The Commission and EPO Signed Letter of Intent to Strengthen Their Cooperation in the Field of Knowledge Valorisation

On 20 September, the Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation and the European Patent Office (EPO) signed a Letter of Intent to enhance their cooperation in knowledge valorisation and further promote efficient management of intellectual assets. This will support the European Research Area (ERA) by translating research results into economic and societal benefits.

This initiative sets the stage for collaborative efforts within awareness campaigns, training, and events to emphasise the importance of intellectual asset management. It will explore joint ventures to enhance the innovation potential of small and medium enterprises and start-ups, including promoting best practices. Additionally, it facilitates the exchange of innovation-related information among the signatories, enabling them to assess trends and engage in dialogue on actions that support the European innovation ecosystem.
