Chile joins four WIPO classification treaties

During a bilateral meeting in Geneva, Chile formally acceded to the Vienna, Nice, Locarno, and Strasbourg classification treaties. This news strengthens legal harmonisation and enables Chile to participate fully in related technical decisions.

Chile also presented a strategic IP agenda addressing AI, the digital economy, intangible asset valuation, and IP-based financing. Other areas of cooperation with WIPO include IP education, gender equity in innovation, and a potential pilot project to encourage the financial sector to engage in IP-backed financing. Furthermore, Chile discussed its progress towards joining the Patent Law Treaty (PLT).
