Brazil suspends PPH fast track for telecom patents

On 16 December 2025, Brazil’s INPI published Ordinance 17/2025, which temporarily suspends the accelerated examination channels (PPH, Green Patents and Market-Available Technology) for applications whose main IPC code is H04 (telecommunications).  The measure will take effect on 1 January 2026, with no scheduled resumption date for H04 cases. 

However, the suspension does not apply to fast tracks for Brazilian start-ups, senior citizens, and applicants with disabilities or serious illnesses.
