On Monday 3 February, the National Institute of Industrial Property of Brazil (INPI) took part in a meeting in Rio de Janeiro with a delegation from the Danish Patent and Trademark Office (DKPTO). With a focus on intellectual property (IP) co-operation between the parties, the aim was to review the actions carried out in 2024 and discuss the activities planned for 2025.
Last year's activities included missions on communications, IP compliance/awareness and digital business, as well as courses and events on topics such as organisational management, IP crime and the commercialisation of intangible assets.
This year, in addition to participation in the IP Key project event, activities are planned on topics such as simplified language, exchange of experience on patent examination guidelines, visits to the DKPTO by INPI technical units and a workshop on strategic planning in information technology (IT).
The co-operation between INPI and DKPTO has been ongoing since 2017 and is currently in its third phase. The main objectives are to strengthen the registration, examination and protection of IP rights in Brazil, as well as to advance IP, innovation and commercialisation in the country and in Latin American countries.
