Argentina has introduced new measures to simplify the registration of technology transfer agreements, bringing relief to companies that rely on foreign technical assistance and licensing. Through Resolution 38/2026, the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) aims to speed up and streamline procedures under Law 22,426.
In recent years, the registration process had become slow and complex, often taking months or even years. This created uncertainty for companies, particularly regarding tax treatment and payments to foreign partners.
The new rules make registration largely informative and voluntary, reduce the level of scrutiny, and clarify the criteria applied by authorities. They also remove burdensome requirements, such as consular legalisation of foreign documents, and introduce more flexible procedures based on company declarations.
These changes are expected to significantly shorten processing times and reduce administrative barriers. However, companies are still encouraged to seek proper guidance to ensure compliance and benefit from available tax advantages.
