Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) encompasses any method in which disputing parties attempt to settle their differences without resorting to conventional litigation, typically with the assistance of a neutral third party. The primary ADR methods include mediation and arbitration. Other approaches, such as conciliation, expert determination, and early neutral evaluation, also fall under ADR.
The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) Mediation Centre provides ADR services to all parties involved in intellectual property (IP) disputes pending before the EUIPO. Building on more than 10 years of experience in the successful mediation and conciliation of IP disputes, the EUIPO Mediation Centre offers a wide range of ADR services through a qualified team of experienced mediators and case managers who assist parties to reach effective and amicable solutions tailored to their business interests.
The goal of the Mediation Centre is to offer users voluntary, confidential, and easily accessible dispute resolution alternatives, providing complementary options so they can select the most suitable approach in the event of an IP dispute.
