Description
In January 2021, a French clothing brand company, Doblörf Inc.(“Doblörf”), filed an application in France for the registration of the word mark “Our Millennial People”. The word mark was printed on branded T-shirts and attracted unprecedented patronage and fame to the company.
Doblörf's subsidiary company in Namibia enjoyed the patronage and loyalty of the locals, mainly due to its affordable pricing and ethical labour practices. At the same time, a local competitor, WeRev LTD (“WeRev”), was also gaining momentum in Namibia. WeRev is a fast-rising teen fashion start-up and a promoter of social welfare. It operates a pro-Africa Corporate Social Responsibility policy that attracts investors from Namibia and beyond.
In March 2021, WeRev launched a clothing line with the lettering “ớur millennial peớple” on polo shirts. By May 2021, the clothing line had generated massive sales and popularity in several parts of Southern Africa. In the same month, WeRev filed an application for the registration of “ớur millenial peớple” as a word mark in Namibia.
